Banker & Tradesman Best of 2009 – Gold Award

For the second year in a row, Boston Based Banker & Tradesman conducted a readers’ poll in which their readers cast their votes for the best providers of services and goods in the banking industry.  And for the second year in a row, American Profit Recovery won the Gold Award in Asset Recovery.

This is a subjective poll and allows readers to tell who they believe are the best providers and we were thrilled to accept this award.

Who Said Learning Can't Be Fun?

So I’m back from Chicago … excited because I missed my coworkers but saddened to know that such a great trip had to come to an end.  I learned a lot at TS2 and have many great ideas to share with my team.

I was motivated to blog, twitter, Facebook and get on LinkedIn more after a motivational, informative speech my Omar Wasow.  If you haven’t heard of him, I recommend you follow him on Twitter (or one of the other aforementioned sites).  I learned that orange makes people move more quickly in a closing keynote from Leatrice Eisman.  Now I want to paint our whole office that color to get my coworkers moving!  Probably not the point … Continue reading »

What else makes us a Reputable Collection Agency?

As I write this I am on my VPN from a hotel room high atop a gorgeous hotel in downtown Chicago.  Since its been raining in Boston all week and beautiful here, I consider this a good thing.

I am in Chicago for TS2 which is an industry trade show and conference for corporate event and trade show managers.  Since this is one of the hats I wear at American Profit Recovery, my manager and one of our partners agreed that sending me here for this week was beneficial continued education.  Most of my seminars this week have been filled with people from Boeing and BAE and Pfizer and all this massively large companies with huge training budgets and teams of 10.  Then there’s me.   Continue reading »

Collection agencies follow these laws…So Should You

In this day of troubled businesses and struggling consumers, we thought we would reissue a whitepaper we wrote a while back. It’s called, “Seven Illegal Things You May be Doing in your Business” and it can be downloaded here; http://www.americanprofit.net/white-papers2.htm

We did this because there is a growing number of small businesses that just don’t have the capacity to chase down their past due invoices and, in this economy can’t afford to make a mistake and break the law when doing so on their own.
The whitepaper details a number of important items including when a business can and cannot call a consumer, where they can call that person such as their home or place of employment, and what constitutes harassment. It’s a valuable tool for any business that is working their past due accounts on their own. Continue reading »

Reputable collection agency and a great team member still in the media:

Have you ever had a TV thrown at you? Have you ever been attacked by geese? Well our own Al Scott has. Al has been in the collection industry for over 50 year; He started as a banker and ran the collection division during his time in banking. These were the days when collectors went door-to-door looking to settle debts.

Now, Al and the entire APR team take not only a diplomatic approach, but they follow all the laws that have been passed over the years. We like to think American Profit Recovery epitomizes a reputable collection agency. Al has a great story of his years in the business and Cathy Buday of the Metro west Daily News captured Al’s story in a piece that was published last week. Read it here. You’ll love it! http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/business/x488831750/A-bank-bill-collectors-tale

There also a great video of Al if you’ve never seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbtRoIFq5Tk&feature=channel_page

Reputable Collection Agency Doesn’t Shy Away From the Media;

Reputable collection agencies do not run and hide when they see the media coming. In fact, no one should really duck for cover when they see or hear from a reporter doing a story on their industry. They should embrace the opportunity to not only tell their story but in the case of the collection industry, show what they provide as a service to business and consumer.

American Profit Recovery’s Jeff DiMatteo recently had the chance to sit down with the Boston Globe to talk about the current trends in the collection industry. He states that while business is certainly up, the rate at which collection agencies collect what they are trying to get for a client, is becoming a little more difficult. Collection agencies such as APR are trying even harder to work with a diplomatic approach, something APR was founded on.
