By Joe:

Let’s stop the talking about the polar vortex and the -20 F weather outside and talk about something more fun. Here at American Profit Recovery, we are talking about the Special Olympics Polar Plunge.  This is where we jump into a Michigan lake in February!  This will be the seventh year that our team has participated in this event.  Last year, we dressed as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and a couple years before that before that we dressed as Oompa Loompas from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”  (That was my favorite)  Got an idea for this year? Please send us any costume suggestions for 2019.

I always make sure to attend because of a high school team teammate of mine, Jeff, who had a disability. You may not know this about me, but I was on the Michigan state championship swim team in 2004. Everyone on the team worked really hard.  Jeff worked harder than anyone both in the pool and in simply trying to be a good teammate.  I am always reminded of his effort, and I think everyone should have the chance compete and to be part of a team.

We always welcome anyone to join our team or just come out and support us take the plunge.  Watching the parade of consumes is always fun. This year, the plunge will be on February 23rd at 9:30 am, at Fork n’ Pint in Waterford.  We will be plunging into Cass Lake, the largest and deepest lake in our county.   If you don’t leave the warmth of your home to see APR take the plunge, please donate to our team.  https://www.firstgiving.com/event/polarplunge/walledlake19
