Time To Take The Plunge

I am glad that say that for the third year running APR will be sponsoring the Special Olympics of Michigan Polar Plunge. This year we will have a team of six employees taking the plunge at Sylvan Lake. The Special Olympics will always hold a special place in my heart. When was in high school, one of swim teammates had a disability. He came to every practice and worked as hard as anyone else, all he wanted was to be on the team. He was an inspiration.

Please join APR this weekend, Saturday the 28th at 12 pm, at Sylvan Lake community center. I hope to see you there, if you can’t […]

More families helped by American Profit Recovery

It’s times like these when I feel so proud to be part of American Profit Recovery. As we enter another year of helping local families during the holidays with our Adopt a Family Program, we can go into our own holidays and the New Year knowing we have done our part for even a few people this season.

Many people say if you can just touch a few people in your life, you’ve made a difference and I believe we have done this. It has now been six years since we decided to buy gifts for struggling families in the communities we work in.

In the past six years we have as a team, purchased over 300 […]

Be a Hero

If you could be a hero, would you be? We’re not talking about having super powers or wearing spandex, we’re talking about saving a life based solely on your unique genetic make-up. It’s a simple question really. Would you, if you could, be a hero? Would you save a life?

When I was an adolescent in middle school, having the summers off school was the best. Budding hunter-gathers, a group of my friends and I spent every waking moment during those sunny months at Sand Lake. With our parents at work most of our time was spent digging for worms and fishing for pan fish. On those really hot, Northern Michigan days we would swim to […]

Make a Difference Day

Joe W BlogThe fourth Saturday of October witnessed national ‘Make a Difference Day. ‘What did you do to make a difference in your community? Did you, volunteer at a soup kitchen, tutor a student, volunteer at a nursing home or hospital? This year, I was lucky enough to have two projects. The first was Scots in Service Day and the second was in giving a helping hand at the United Way’s Southwest Solutions early learning center.

Everyone who knows me knows that I went to the College of Wooster, GO SCOTS. Each and every year, we Scots, come together, across the world, and give back to our […]

Join Us For Making Strides on October 11th!

I just wanted to make a point of inviting everyone to join us at our annual Making Strides walk on October 11th in Howell, MI.  If I’m not mistaken, it will be our 7th year participating in this event.  It’s always a great chance to get outside and spend some time with your co-workers and friends.  Personally, I feel like it’s a chance to honor the memory of my grandmother who passed away from breast cancer in 1985.  The money raised from this event goes towards finding new and better ways to treat and cure this disease, and I have no doubt that the advances made […]

Join APR for the Brighton Polar Plunge for Special Olympic

Despite this weekend’s 20-year-old record snow fall and record lows…Burr, American Profit Recovery employees and their families will be taking the plunge for the Special Olympics for the second year in a row! I am glad that we are making this an annual event, as I have been an active supporter of the Special Olympics since I was on the high school swim team.  One of my teammates, who had more passion for the sport than anyone else I have ever met, had a disability and was an active Special Olympic athlete.

Looking back all those years ago I still remember 5:45 AM practices, where I was struggling to find the energy to keep […]

Charities of Choice 2013

Fall is here and as I’m quite sure you’ve noticed, the summer days are over, but not everyone was lazy this summer. Our American Profit team has been hard at work raising money for some well deserving charities this summer and we just tallied up our totals.

As we finish up our Summer Charities of Choice program we are proud to announce that this year our team has raised the most in the programs existence with a total of $3,718. The money raised by our collection agency team will be donated to charities that were chosen by our team themselves. There is a wide range of charities this year from helping veterans, to saving lives, […]

Join us for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Making Strides 2013

It’s time for another American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event.  You will see  employees from this collection agency and our families out in full force for the 5th year in a row.  (You can usually spot us with our amazingly bright colored shirts!)

In this day and age everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer, whether your friend or family member is a survivor or lost their courageous battle, we have all been affected.

The good news is, we can help!  Whether it’s taking time out of your busy schedule to walk in an event near you or donating to someone who is walking, we can help those who […]

Earn It

Moskowitz_RenewalRemembranceThis was a GREAT day!  I am very fortunate to have just participated in one of the most moving events of the year!  PLANET’s Renewal and Remembrance, which takes place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.  Lawn Care, Landscapers, Tree care, and other green industry professionals and their families come from all over the U.S. to give one day at Arlington National Cemetery to clean up and beautify the grounds.

There were several hundred participants this year and all proud to give back to the U.S. Military and their families who gave SO much for us and our freedom!  It is awe-inspiring to see the names […]
