Small Business Saturday is November 30th this year. These small businesses are an important part of our communities, and our economy. This is a great day to get out, get involved, shop local and support these businesses.

APR works with many small businesses and as Small Business Saturday gets closer we wanted to share some advice for those local small businesses on how to make the most of this day dedicated to you.

Use Available Resources: American Express founded Small Business Saturday in 2010, it is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. On their website they have many resources (most are free) that can help you promote this day in your business and community. You can find those resources here.

Promote on Social Media: Informing your customers on your social media sites is a great way to encourage business on November 30th. You can create an event, make posts/tweets, and generate contests to showcase what your small business has to offer. Don’t be afraid to get creative.

Email Incentive: Hopefully this day will bring in new customers, and its’ important to follow up with them to keep them connected and coming back. Create a sign-up near the register just for this day, when people sign up you can give them a discount off their purchase on the spot, or another incentive. Make sure you email those new customers to thank them for supporting your business and let them know more about your business.

Collaborate: If you collaborate with other small businesses to have a community event, you will boost business for your whole community.  Host a block party, have face paint, cotton candy, balloon animals, this is something that will involve everyone and get people excited about this day. You can also get your local newspaper or media involved to highlight or promote this event, which will be great advertising for the local businesses involved.

These are just some great ideas that can help you make the most of this year’s Small Business Saturday on November 30th.  For advice on collections for your small business, check out this video:
