How to have a great call center

It’s no secret we spend a lot of time on the phone here at this collection agency. Yes, as debt collectors our job is to speak with consumers to try and resolve their debts. We do it with respect and we treat everyone we communicate with on the phone with the decency they deserve.

We also have the clients we serve that we’re trying to collect for and a team of professional customer service reps to serve their needs. And while many companies brag about their great customer service, many have little to back it up with.

We know we have a great customer service team and we now have […]

Hell Yeah…I Want to Bring My Work Home with Me

You know the cliché’.

Don’t bring your work home with you they do say.

But that’s banal, overused and all too conventional a thought.

I’m here to turn this idea on its ear, to think a new thought.

Here’s something novel and new.

I recommend you try too.

DO take up your work and bring your work home.

What would it all mean, would YOU arrive home with no groan?

For me it means days without daydreams.

Constantly busy, working hard and ice-creameries.

Employee week at the office is a blast!

So go home and raise high your household mast!

Being spontaneous & creative, being courageous and kind

Building relationships with others, others of all kind

Teamwork truly makes a true […]

Just another day in the park

By Peggy:

Many hands make light work—it may sound cliché, but the employees of American Profit Recovery prove it to be true every year at our annual Adopt-a-Park Outing.  This year, the employees and owners of this collection agency descended on Island Park in Brighton, MI to help their staff get ready for the spring and summer seasons. In six short hours, we not only cleared, replanted and mulched three flower beds; but we also assembled and stained over 30 picnic tables.Great collection agencies

Although it sounds like a long day of hard work, with 20 plus workers fueled by pizza and some rockin’ 80’s tunes, the work was light, […]

Creating more educational opportunities in the collection industry

American Profit Recovery was one of a handful of great collection agencies that took part in this year’s Collectors Challenge to raise money for some important programs. Money raised through these efforts is put towards the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship program that helps further the education of those in the collection industry.  You can learn more about the program here.

You may have an impression of collection agencies that only involves a bunch of people in a dark room making phone calls all day. Not here…We have fun every day and we turn the business of raising money for these program into even more fun.

Here’s […]

When I grow up

Kids!  Aren’t they great?  “Mom, when I grow up I want to be a fireman”.  “When I grow up I want to be a police officer, a teacher, President, etc., etc., etc.”.  All of these, mind you, are noble professions with delusions of grandeur!!  Now, in all of my years, I don’t believe any of these kids have said “ Mom, I want to be in debt collections or I wanna work for a collection agency”  In fact, if that did happen, I would be curious to see the look on that parents face.  These other positions and aspirations, as you know, are noble and prestigious positions, so why would a child aspire to be […]

Appreciation is Essential

By Sarah L.

Administrative Appreciation Day is coming up, April 26th to be exact, and being a member of the Admin team myself at this collection agency I know that this day is one that our team looks forward to. Each year on this day the entire Admin team is taken out to lunch by the owners. This not only allows some time for team bonding but it also lets us know that our work is valued. Appreciation is essential in any type of relationship and American Profit Recovery goes above and beyond to show their appreciation not only for the employees but for the community and our clients as well.  […]

Luck is in the Labor

By Sean;

St.Patrick’s Day! Whooohoo!! Growing up with Irish on both sides of the family I have some fond memories of March, 17th. The Irish are often considered to be lucky people. But is luck earned, or is it…well…simply luck? When thinking about this concept two memorable quotes come into mind.collection agencies and dedicated employes

“I’d rather be lucky than good” Ugh… I remember the first time I heard this miserable quote. A competitor of mine muttered it to me when I was on a golf course during a junior tournament when my stray drive hit a tree and miraculously ended up on the fairway. I thought to my young […]

How to Become a Born Leader

By Sarah S.

Recently I attended the Yes Network for the session that featured, Billy Riggs. He had two portions in the session, first on “The Magic of Balance” and the second on “How to Become a Born Leader”. I took a lot away from his session in all and just wanted to highlight some key features I really enjoyed.Leadership American Profit Recovery

In the first portion, The Magic of Balance…. I learned balance all revolves around what makes a person happy and how to create true happiness. Always altering your priorities to balance life, next your character as a person has a big impact on this; who you […]

Happiness and Balance

Here at American Profit Recovery, we encourage the constant challenge to improve yourself and your skills, and attending seminars and/or reading good material is a great way to do just that!  I recently attended a seminar hosted by the YES Network here in Michigan.  The speaker was a gentleman that I have seen before at the Michigan Bankers Association conference and I bought some of his materials back then.

His name is Billy Riggs and I highly recommend seeing him if you get the chance.  His message for us was about “the Magic of Balance”.  He posed a question that I have heard numerous times and one that I […]

The IT Department: Every Company’s Friendliest Team…

By John:

What is the first thing that you think about when you imagine a company’s IT department?

When you need assistance from your IT department, do you think of that as a positive or negative experience?

Depending on your past experiences, and even for how long you’ve had to deal with IT departments in general, responses will vary greatly. Before I worked in IT myself, I had been at other places where I was the one who had to ask for IT help. I can tell about pleasant experiences, on one hand, with the friendly IT employee that came and quickly fixed my issue and explained to […]
